Settlers of Catan...anyone know...?
Anyone know where I can find a shop (online or otherwise) that stocks a pre-2007 adaptor kit for Settlers of Catan? Somewhere in Australia, NSW preferrably, its for a friends birthday so speedy delivery is a must.

With all due respect to Jerry, he has no idea what he's talking about. I know of the adapter kit you are refering to, because I had to buy one myself, during a brief period when they were being offered at local retail game stores (LRGSs) nationwide.
Having said that, however, you probably won't find it in stock at any game store now, since they aren't selling well anymore. You might be able to special order them at your LRGS, or from a game distributor. You might also be able to find the Website for the manufacturer of the game and order it directly from them.
I doubt that you will be able to get it quickly in Australia, but you never know until you try. If you have ordered it, I'm sure your friend will be overjoyed to hear that he has another birthday gift on the way, and that you were thinking of him or her on that special day. I think there is a lesson here that applies to more than just the game of Diplomacy. I learned it the hard way playing Settlers of Catan online– in a multiplayer game, try not to be the first person to be a jerk. Granted, someone’s gotta be a jerk at some point or it’s not much of a game but whoever is the first, even if it’s the right move, carries a stigma that doesn’t get passed until someone else takes a clear lead. Let someone else be the first jerk, don’t show your hand until you see your path to victory.

I am not sure if you folks have tried to play Settlers of Catan online, but there is a great version available called Sea3D. You can download and play free…just go to and go to “Latest Version -> Download” section on the top menu.
