Having just seen this thread, I realize that my dad has the same, if not a very similar camera. When I was younger I always used to go routing through things around the house (one time I found a Katana sword, but I digress). I found the camera in the same box and didn’t really think much of it, as I was about 8/9 years-old and just thought it was an “old camera”. I seem to remember my dad saying something like “it’s an excellent camera” many years ago when I asked him about it, but I wasn’t really impressed. I was living in Japan at the time and so I suppose I was more fascinated by the new, slick, shiny, compact technology as opposed to bulky film cameras. I really hope my dad didn’t toss it out.. I should have a look through some of our boxes and I might find it.
no, its illegal, unless you have some sort of permit. katana swords are pretty long, and carrying a long blade like that in public isn't a good idea. besides, being 16 is a bit too young to get a permit.
