Can you "talk" about trades with players when it is not their turn in "Settlers of Catan?"?
As stated in the rules, it is well known that you can not actually perform a trade with a player when it is not their turn, but can you talk to the other players about making a trade? You can then complete that trade when it IS your turn.
There is nothing against the rules specifically about negotiating trades outside of your turn. However, if the discussion distracts from or disrupts the game in any way, it should be discouraged. No one likes to have his or her turn interrupted by other players chattering incessantly about what they want to accomplish during their turns. - LJS
